Following the tradition of the Emperor’s Royal Guard, the personal bodyguards of Emperor Sheev Palpatine, the Praetorian Guards wore red robes and armour. They specialized in various martial arts, including Teräs Käsi, and carried various high-tech weapons.

Following Snoke’s assassination at the hands of Kylo Ren, the Praetorians—including the First, Third and Seventh Guards—attempted to avenge his death. They fought very well, and, for a brief moment, almost overwhelmed Ren and Rey but were ultimately killed by the duo. After their destruction, Ren succeeded Snoke as Supreme Leader of the First Order.

The Caretakers were female Lanai who lived on Ahch-To and attended to the ancient Jedi test village on the planet, which housed the first Jedi Temple. They considered it their religious duty to maintain the temple island’s ancient structures and to care for those who travelled to their isolated world seeking the truth.

They led simple, unassuming lives and wore white robes with matching headdresses. The Caretakers were led by their matron, Alcida-Auka.

They tolerated the presence former Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as his impact on them was [minimal] and courteous, but were less than enamoured with the visiting Rey, who they found detrimental to their attempts to keep the island in good shape.

After Rey blasted a hole in the hut she was staying in, two Caretakers fussed over trying to repair the damage and lambasted the young woman in their odd language.

Later, Alcide-Auka and another Caretaker were pushing a wheelbarrow along a cliff path when the cart was obliterated by a falling rock pillar which Rey had sliced off with her lightsaber, leaving the matron holding the wheelbarrow’s handles.

Guessing who must have been responsible, the two Lanais glared up at her exasperatedly, and she replied with a sheepish smile.

Biology and appearance Porgs were a species of non-sentient birds in the Star Wars Universe. They were stocky in nature, with two short wings, flat, beak-less faces, and two webbed feet.

Porgs were sexually dimorphic; males were slightly larger than females, and males also had orange plumage around the eyes.

Porgs of both sexes were covered in dense feathers, with white colouration on the body and face, and grey to brown on the wings and back.

They were much lighter than they looked, thanks to a thick outer layer of waterproof feathers with a fluffy underlayer for warmth. They could fly short distances but not far enough to leave their native island.

They could also run quite swiftly on the ground and were good at manoeuvring into small spaces. The birds had stereoscopic vision, coloured with brown irises and black pupils. Porgs favoured colder environments.

Three decades after the Galactic Civil War, it served as the home of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker who went into exile seeking the first Jedi Temple after his Jedi students were killed by Kylo Ren. After the Resistance pieced together two map fragments to reveal Skywalker’s location, Rey travelled to Ahch-To in the Millennium Falcon accompanied by R2-D2 and Chewbacca, in search of him.

The origins of the Resistance, which took inspiration from the Alliance to Restore the Republic, dated to the end of the Galactic Civil War, when the New Republic planetary Disarmament Act in the wake of the signing of the Galactic Concordance with the Galactic Empire.

Organa argued that the Empire, which retreated into the Unknown Regions, could not be trusted to abide by the treaty. When the First Order arose from the ashes of the Empire, Organa urged the Republic to take the threat seriously. Rebuffed and being labelled a paranoid warmonger, Organa was disgraced in the eyes of the New Republic’s Senate following the revelation that her father was Darth Vader.

Ignored particularly by the growing Centrists faction, many of which were in direct collusion with the rising First Order, she formed the Resistance to combat the threat she had discovered.
